Updates from the School of the Arts for Spring 2021

It is well understood across the university that the School of the Arts’ curricula is based largely on experiential learning, and this requires access to studio and performance spaces.

While the university recently announced that all classes will begin virtually on Jan. 25, VCUarts has confirmed that these changes to spring classes do not apply to studio-based and practicum courses in the School of the Arts.

The health and safety of the entire community; faculty, staff and students, remains our primary concern. Course modalities may shift slightly, but will be finalized by Thursday, Jan. 21. Please review your course schedule after that date, and read all emails from faculty carefully.

If you have further questions or concerns about a course modality, please contact your faculty members. Academic advisors are also available if you need assistance with course selection.

Access to individual buildings across the School of the Arts will remain the same as it was during the fall semester for all students and faculty. Please continue to remain vigilant about following established safety protocols, including mandatory mask wearing, recommended reduced occupancy, and increased social distancing.
