Lyndon F. Cooper | School of Dentistry

I am pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. William Dahlke as chair of the Department of Pediatric Dentistry effective May 1, 2017. Dr. Dahlke joined our school of dentistry in 2014. Following a national search for chair, Dr. Dahlke was selected to lead our mission in children and special-needs patient care, and education and research programs in pediatric dentistry. He replaces Dr. Tegwyn Brickhouse who will now focus full-time directing the Oral Health Services Research Core, VCU Philips Institute for Oral Health Research and VCU’s iCubed transdisplinary core for Oral Health in Children and Adolescents.
Dr. Dahlke earned his dental degree from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, graduating Summa Cum Laude, and was honored to be inducted into Omicron Kappa Upsilon, the national dental honor society. Following several years of practicing general dentistry and teaching at the UNLV School of Dental Medicine, he continued his training in Pediatric Dentistry, also at UNLV. Dr. Dahlke then maintained a private practice in Las Vegas while also holding a faculty appointment in the Department of Pediatric Dentistry at UNLV. He joined the VCU School of Dentistry in October 2014 and prior to this appointment as chairman, he served as Program Director of the postgraduate residency program.

I wish to thank Dr. Brickhouse for her eight years of service as chair and the search committee led by Dr. Fred Certosimo, for their outstanding work.  Please congratulate and welcome Dr. William Dahlke as chair of Pediatric Dentistry at VCU School of Dentistry.
